Fashion is a powerful way to tell stories and this illustration is my way of expressing a dramatic, dark, and artistic idea through design. Inspired by the mysterious concept of a voodoo doll I created this artwork using watercolors, watercolor pencils, and markers.
The illustration shows a long gown that combines structure with texture. The bodice is oversized, deep black, and slightly haunting it creates a strong visual impact much like a voodoo doll’s head. The skirt is divided by bold black cage like lines that give the look a stiff and controlled shape almost like it’s being held together by force. Inside those lines I used dry, messy strokes in shades of brown and yellow to show raw fabric textures like old threads or straw, which are often seen in handmade dolls.
My goal was to explore the idea of beauty in something that’s traditionally seen as eerie. The voodoo doll is usually linked with fear or magic, but I wanted to take that emotion and turn it into fashion storytelling dramatic, bold, and emotionally intense.
I mixed artistic tools and dark inspiration to create something that’s not just a sketch, but a mood a concept that lives between fashion and fantasy.
